AAA Oregon Offering Green Tag Program

AAA Oregon/Idaho has now united with the Green Tag program pioneered by the national non-profit organization, Bonneville Environmental Foundation. The DriveGreen™ package includes Green Tag credits to offset the harmful emissions associated with approximately 5,000 miles of driving. We call these “clean miles.”

Enroll NowWhen you choose DriveGreen™, you are helping to reduce pollution by supporting environmentally friendly wind power. Each DriveGreen™ package includes the purchase of carbon offset credits, called “Green Tags.” Pioneered by the national non-profit organization, Bonneville Environmental Foundation (BEF), these credits directly support the development and use of cleaner, renewable energy sources, which can replace conventional gas or coal-generated electricity.

Your annual DriveGreen™ package includes:

* 5,000* carbon offset miles (“clean miles”) * DriveGreen™ window decal * Certificate of acknowledgement * Reusable shopping bag * Informative website and e-newsletter * Discounts on additional Green Tags to offset the carbon associated with household activities and vacation/travel miles as well as additional blocks of clean miles.

Green Tags
Green Tags are renewable energy certificates, which support the development of new supplies of non-polluting, renewable energy. Each Green Tag represents the reduction in greenhouse gas emissions that occurs when clean renewable energy – such as wind power – replaces polluting energy sources. One Green Tag represents enough renewable energy to offset 1,500 miles of emissions from a standard car.

Renewable energy, often called “green power”, is energy that is produced in ways that are cleaner and less harmful to the environment. Green power comes from natural forces that can be harvested without releasing pollutants into the air we breathe.

As green power displaces traditional sources of energy, less fossil fuel is burned and fewer pollutants are released, which is beneficial to everyone.
