Things looked good for the Astoria Boys Basketball team at the Brickhouse Saturday Night….that is until fouls caught up with them. As the 3rd quarter was coming to an end the Fish committed their 7th foul. Down by 2, at 33-31, the Fish fouled freshman Coby Proctor. He made one of 2 FT’s and put Stayton up by 3 and they never looked back.

The foul totals were impressive for the Fishermen in the second half. After only committing 8 in the first half, they totaled 20 in the second half and Stayton made them pay by making 21 out of 26 foul shots and winning the game 59-44.

Ryan Bowers led the Stayton Eagles with 26 points on 8-14 shooting and 7-8 at the line. Alex Esparza had 14 and Coby Proctor with 8.

The Fish were led by Chris Dalton with 16, Hans Lund with 11 and Max Johnson and Jordan Poyer with 6 each.

Point totals:

Fish up 15-12 after 1st…..Stayton up 22-21 at the half…..Stayton up 34-31 after 3 and Stayton wins 59-44.
