We Don’t Need FEMA Money
This is going to be a very unpopular post with both Democrats and Republicans, but I need to say it.
There is no reason our County needs anything from the Federal Government for the “Storm”. Getting this money to me seems like we are a bunch of kids begging Mom and Dad for some money because our bike got stolen.
Listening to David Wu on the radio sounded absolutely pathetic. Going on and on about how much we need this money “Just to survive”. And slamming Bush because he didn’t sign for the money fast enough. And acting like our personal savior because he is “bringing home the bacon”. All of this creates the attitude that it’s the Federal Governments job to give us money….when we are the ones that gave it to them in the first place through taxes. Because we want “more more more”, the Federal Government just gets larger and more powerful with every passing day. And when something gets more powerful it weakens everything else….our State Governments, our local Governments and each individual person.
All of this tax and spend merry-go-round really gets us nothing of value in the long run except wasted resources, 9.2 TRILLION dollars in debt and a larger and more powerful Government agency.
I say turn down the FEMA money and tell them to lower our taxes instead. Then if we want large and lavish-style Government, we can vote with a few other thousand people to do it.

I disagree with the statement” Getting this money to me seems like we are a bunch of kids begging Mom and Dad for some money because our bike got stolen.” In my area Insurance was not enough to cover damages done by the storm and FEMA should have helped out those who could not afford to pay the additional money needed. But not to worry, FEMA seemed not very anxious to help out those that needed help, in fact I know of no one that was helped. Another wasted effort by a incorrigible and inept federal agency. Katrina taught that agency nothing.
