McGee For Bjork?
Patrick was the 2nd vote getter in the last Election for the vacant seat. He also seems to be heavily involved with many issues around the county, especially the Port of Astoria. Of course there would be many 3-2 votes, which many see as a bad thing, but I am always happy to see divided Government, as long as all the members are mature enough to handle it. (which has been a problem lately)
But if not Patrick….who would you like to see appointed to the Commission?

Bjork’s retirement is a loss to that outfit and to the people of the county and the fishing industry, who Bjork’s faithful support could be counted on. He’s gonna be tough to replace. Going to have to give it some thought on who could fill Bernie Bjork’s boots.

What about Huhtala? He is a sharp knife in any drawer. A local. Is a great communicator, full of wonderful ideas and well liked by the community at large. Why would not he be the best candidate to help unify the commission and move things forward?

Funny how politicized a basically unpaid position in a small town can become. As I watch these guys struggle I think (and Bernie likely now thinks) “Who wants that s###? Try to help and all ÿou get is flak and second-guessing!” It’s a wonder they can get anyone decent at all.
As an Oregon fisherman who has moved on, I respected Bernie’s advocacy for commercial fisherman on the commission. You are not going to get that from Peter Huhtala. But then, Bernie did not represent the interests of the longshoremen, so maybe we need someone who could look out for them, too---and of course the cruise ships---anbd the environmentalists...ahhh, heck, never mind, this stuff is too complicate and it’s time for “Project Runway.”

And I will go knocking door-to-door to encourage people NOT to vote for Huhtala if he runs for that seat.
Bernie Bjork was the best thing to have happened to the Port Commission for years - he was passionate and honest! I don’t blame him for resigning - even the best of people can only put up with so much CRAP.
Good luck Bernie - you’re a good man.

Huhtala has zero support from commercial fishing and seafood processing industries because of his overt anti-commercial fishing proposals and stances. He is considered a traitor in this town.
and, could Huhtala pass a piss test?
Ask yourself, do we need any anti commercial fishing potheads in our local governement? Depsite what this..this....this McGee(if that’s his real name}, whoever he is, says.

For the record it was some kook name of Ted somethingerother who laid the straw that broke the back of Bjork’s tolerance camel.

You’d have to be crazy, a fellow druggie and probably both to support Huhtala.
How about it, does this...this...this McGee,(if that’s his real name) fit the profile?

Wait...I thought punishment was to kick him out of elected office.....

No Tryan, that’s after you get him in.
Then you kick him out.
The challenge is for “The Elected/Appointed” to see how long he can avoid having that happen.

So we can say that Bjork had more enemies than you did in the last Port Election?

Just for the record, I like Peter Huhtala a lot. he is a good guy who follows his conscience, not the herd. It’s not him that killed commercial fishing. Blame the dams, human greed and technology.
Also for the record, I won’t be posting anymore on a site that lets unknown persons take ‘potshots’ (nice pun, get it?) at people anonymously. If you have an opinion that you are not ashamed of, sign your real name.
