Seaside Transportation Summit on June 18

Seaside – If you have an opinion about what Seaside should look like over the next five to twenty years, the City of Seaside and ODOT want to hear from you. Project partners, including the City of Seaside, Clatsop County and ODOT will hold a Transportation Summit on Wednesday, June 18 at the Bob Chisholm Community Center in Seaside from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, with the presentation starting at 5:45 pm. Staff from the City of Seaside and CH2M Hill will share results from the recently completed community survey and will collect ideas from the public on improvements to the pedestrian, bicycle, transit and road network in Seaside.

The Summit is part of developing a Seaside Transportation System Plan. The Transportation System Plan (TSP) will focus on needed improvements to the local and state transportation network over the next five, ten and twenty years. The project will explore current and fture transportation needs, including safety and connectivity as well as transit, bicycle and pedestrian facilities. The public is encouraged to attend the Summit to share their thoughts on these and other topics. At this public meeting, attendees can also sign up for smaller topic-specific workshops that will be held in the fall.

The project is currently in its first phase, which involves collecting and analyzing information. Project team member are gathering information from the public and local officials, plus performing surveys and traffic counts. This second phase of the project, which involves developing and analyzing alternatives. Will take place during the fall and winter, 2008.
