Police Report From Bonham and Neikes Incident

Tryan Hartill May 16, 2008

A Tuesday incident between a Clatsop County appraiser and Jim Neikes was sent to the Tillamook Sheriff’s Department by District Attorney Josh Marquis. Yesterday the Tillamook office faxed this police report back to Marquis.

So why wasn’t Neikes’ interview included in the report?

So the inspector did not know who’s house he was at? Wouldn’t you know whos property you were on? It was for taxs right, am I missing something here.
I read the daily fish wrapper about this same issue. There is plenty about Jim getting in an altercation with his wife, but how come there is noting about the Editor of the paper beating a child a few years ago (it was someone elses child) where is that story? Can anyone interview the parents and tell us the whole story?

Well, We only got one side of the story, so all I can deduce is that bonham’s story was so full of holes that it hardly warrented bothering Mr. Neikes for a rebutle. Kudos to Sheriff Bergen for bringing in a third party to investigate. An overzealous local deputy could have tried to make this into a lot larger story (like the local paper tried to do.)

No one’s perfect.
Give the guy a break.
He used to do a little blow...who didn’t?
He smacked his wife around....big deal.
Who isn’t mad at the county inspectors?
He’s perfect for this Commission.

Being it was exposed in the “Daily Ass” I will disregard most of the
printed word. The letter a bunch of one side crap.

Why did the Tillamook Sheriff’s dept bother coming to Clatsop Co? “Bonham told us...” was their whole “investigation” which could have been done by phone. And even though Bonham was found by the deputy to be: intelligent, professional, forthright, knowledgeable and polite this deputy didn’t find enough from Boneyham’s whining to even conduct a more thorough “investigation”.

Why didn’t this county employee go to his supervisor? He has seen that employees get the royal treatment, visavis Bunch, they basically get whistle blower status and lifetime employment. So why run willy-nilly to the law with such a dubious “threat”? Unless, you know you are running to the guy who is vilifying Neikes and you have your own ax to grind.

Must be fun to have so much authority over others lives and get to mess with it as a county employee.

I think the newspaper is just trying to sell papers. People make mistakes in their lifes and it does not give the county the right to mess with people that are truly wanting to make this area we live in a better place. Good Luck Jim.jp
