24th Season Opener for Shanghaied in Astoria

NorthCoastOregon July 3, 2008

The 24th Season of SHANGHAIED IN ASTORIA, sponsored by our local North Coast Fred Meyer, opens July 10th and runs thru Sept 13 2008. NOW AT OUR NEWLY REMODELED HOME, The ASTOR STREET OPRY COMPANY PLAYHOUSE, at 129 West Bond Street, Uniontown Astoria.

The “Miss Vivian” Contest and Pub Crawl IS RETURNING! Featuring: The Cannery Café Lounge, Café Uniontown Bar, Fort George Brewery, Golden Luck Lounge, Rogue Ales Public House, Schooner 12th Street Bistro and The Worker’s Bar & Grill.

It works like this…each of the above establishments chooses a representative as their “Miss Vivian”: the rough and sturdy saloon owner from our shanghaied story, who’s just trying to make a livin’ in this rough mans world. These contestants raise money for ASOC and votes for themselves, by selling their own very special Miss Viv Button. Whoever sells the most…WINS! Then on the evening of Saturday August 16th At 6:00 pm COME ABOARD the Sunset Empire Transit District “trolley Bus” for a tour of “Shanghai trap doors”, at these favorite Astoria’s watering holes! Our passengers will meet the 2008 MISS VIVIAN CONTESTANTS, sample a special “Shanghaied Cocktail” and hear the contestant’s Trap Door Story created just for this unique event! At the end of the ride the bus returns to the ASOC Playhouse just in time to dance the night away at the Shanghaied Ball, to two local bands, The Pagan Pancakes and The Johnny Ward Trio, All sponsored by NAPA AUTO PARTS of Warrenton, CITY TRANSFER MOVING COMPANY & VICTORIAN LACE. The party will begin at 10:30pm and runs until 1:30am! (10$ per person and 15$ per couple at the door)

So…Who will be the next Miss Vivian 2008!? Sign up for the Pub Crawl by calling 503-325-6104 and find out!

“Shanghaied in Astoria” runs every Thursday, Friday and Saturday (doors open at 7pm, show time 7:30pm) with four Sunday Matinees (doors open at 1:30pm show time 2pm) on July 20th, August 3rd, August 24th & August 31st.Please call our box office 503-325-6104 for a current calendar of events or check out our website at shanghaiedinastoria.com

I love Shanghaied! It gets funnier each year. The olieos are great but they would be even better if a fly or two would buzz through. Please say Niland has contacted a fly to write this year!?!
