PUBLIC OPEN HOUSE FOR DENVER ST CSO SEPARATION PROJECT
Astoria, Or. A public open house will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2008 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Astoria High School, 1001 W Marine Drive in Astoria. The City of Astoria Public Works Department is inviting the public to drop by an informational neighborhood open house about the Denver Street Separation Project. This project is part of the overall CSO control plan that is designed to significantly reduce discharges of combined storm and sanitary sewage to the Columbia River and Youngs Bay. The City is working with Brown and Caldwell on the design this project.
Construction of this project will occur in two phases. The first phase of construction mainly consists of construction of storm sewer pipe and related work on Denver Street, Alameda Avenue, Erie Avenue and Antwerp Street, which is scheduled for construction this summer. The second phase includes an underground combined sewage storage facility at Tapiola Park and a parallel interceptor pipeline along West Marine Drive from Tapiola Park past the High School. Construction of the second phase is expected to begin in the spring of 2009.
For more information and to get on the project mailing list, contact Jenny Cordiner, City of Astoria Public Works Department, Engineering Division, at 338-5173 or email .
