NOMINATIONS DUE FOR 21ST ANNUAL YOUTH AWARDS EVEN
Clatsop County is asking for nominations for youth to be recognized at the 21st Annual Youth Recognition event scheduled for May 15th at a luncheon in their honor. It is hoped that in recognizing the positive actions of young people, positive peer examples can be spotlighted for other youth of Clatsop County.
To be eligible for an award, youth must be between 12 and 20, be residents of Clatsop County and either have overcome personal challenges to achieve success, made a positive life change or through some form of service made a significant contribution to their community. In addition, youth considered for nomination should not have been a previous recipient.
All nominations should be sent in the form of a letter (see more specific criteria and guidelines for the letter in the form attached) to the Clatsop County Commission on Children & Families office, at 820 Exchange, Suite 100, Astoria, OR 97103 or Fax to 325-8678. Letters should be received no later than April 28th along with the enclosed recipient information form filled out by the youth being nominating. Late submissions will not be accepted. As names and achievements of youth will be publicized you are asked to not include any information that your nominee and/or his or her family might find sensitive or embarrassing.
Nominators will be notified if the youth they have nominated are chosen to receive the award. At the award event, nominators will be asked to speak briefly about why they nominated the youth for recognition and in turn, the youth themselves will be asked to say a few words about their accomplishments.
In addition, youth can nominate adults who have make a significant positive impact on their lives for the Adult “Asset Builder,” award given by the commission in coordination with the Take the Time” Be the Difference Coalition. Nomination forms for this award will be available at all middle and high schools in the county, as well as Tongue Point Job Corp Center.
