On June 13, 2008 a citizen reported to Astoria Dispatch that they had witnessed a drug deal take place at the Warrenton Mini Mart. When Warrenton police arrived the persons involved in the reported transaction had left the area.
Acting on specific information from this tip and other information that she had gained previously from her own experience and that of officers from several agencies, Astoria Police Officer Nicole Riley contacted several people at 34578 Highway 105, Astoria. One of these people was John Kelley (age 29, 135 SW Birch, Warrenton). During her contact with Kelley, Riley located tin that Kelley had attempted to conceal. The tin contained an assortment of white pills, a bindle of brown powder and three baggies of white crystalline powder. The white crystalline powder tested positive for amphetamines. The pills were identified as Dilaudid, Vicodin, Dolophin, and Xanax. The brown powder has not yet been tested.
The residence and vehicles in the area were secured while Officer Riley obtained a search warrant. While waiting for the search warrant to be issued, after having been told he could not be in the residence while officers were waiting for the warrant Corry Sheker (Age 26, 34578 Hwy 105, Astoria) ran into the house and was in the house for several minutes. When officers contacted him he was arrested for Interfering with Police.
Upon receiving the search warrant authorizing the residence, vehicles and people present officers located in a vehicle registered to, and operated by, John Osborne, (age 34, 286 Lexington Ave., Astoria) a loaded .380 caliber Handgun, digital scales, several small bags of suspected methamphetamine and a large bag which in its packaging weighed approximately 15 grams. Located in the residence during the warrant service were several bags of marijuana, user amounts of cocaine, scales, smoking devices, heroin, and methadone pills. Several firearms were also located in the residence. Using information from this search warrant Officer Riley also obtained a search warrant for the residence located at 286 Lexington Avenue. This warrant was served on June 14, 2008. During the service of the warrant officers located more methamphetamine, oxycodone and methadone pills. One bag of methamphetamine was weighed at 11 grams in its packaging. Officers also located more firearms, digital scales and currency consistent with the sales of narcotics. Sheker was arrested for Interfering with a Police Officer. Osborne was arrested for Possession of Methamphetamine, Delivery of Methamphetamine, Possession of Methadone, and Possession of Oxycodone. Kelly was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine. During this investigation Astoria officers were assisted by officers from Warrenton PD and advised by the Clatsop County District Attorney’s office.
