Astoria Fishermen Baseball Hang On For The Win

The Astoria Fishermen Baseball team survived a scare in today’s High School Baseball Playoff game, but still won 6-5 over the Baker Bulldogs. They will move on to the quarter finals of the 2008 4A High School Playoffs for the 3rd year in a row. Astoria was up 6-1 in 6th inning, but baker scored 4 unanswered runs and had the tying run on 3rd and 1 out in the 7th. Baker’s Cody Hensley then hit a line drive to the outfield and Sam Johnson made a diving catch, got up, and threw to catcher Dane Lund to put out the runner at home for a game ending double play.

Notes

Jordan Poyer pitched the victory.

Astoria scored 6 runs on only 4 hits.

Baker scored 5 runs on only 4 hits.

Astoria will at Siuslaw next – A 6-1 winner over Hidden Valley today.
