Motorcycle Collides With Astoria Log Truck

Oregon State Police (OSP) is continuing the investigation into Friday afternoon’s serious injury crash involving a motorcycle and log truck on Highway 47 about four miles south of Highway 30.

According to Sergeant Tim Schwartz, on July 27, 2012 at approximately 1:10 p.m a 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle operated by Patrick C. Steinauer, age 59, from Longview, Washington, was southbound on Highway 47 near milepost 4 when it crossed the centerline a collided into the left rear trailer tire of a loaded log truck driven by Franz Puhl, age 62, from Astoria. The motorcycle and operator came to rest on the northbound shoulder.

Steinauer was seriously injured and transported by Clatskanie Fire & Rescue to a secondary location where LifeFlight took him to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center. His injuries are non-life threatening. He was wearing a helmet.

Puhl was not injured. He was driving for Teevin Land and Timber Company.

Highway 47 was closed 90 minutes. OSP was assisted at the scene by Clatskanie Police Department, Clatskanie Fire & Resuce, and ODOT.
